5 Magical Places in the Kootenays That Made Me Feel Something
May 6, 2025
How I Plan My Weekend Getaways on a Budget (Kootenay Edition)
June 1, 2025Waterfalls have a way of reminding me to breathe deeper, pause longer, and just be present. Living in the Kootenays has blessed me with access to some of the most magical and underrated waterfalls in British Columbia — some hidden, some easy to reach, but all worth chasing.
Here are my favorite ones (so far):
-
Fletcher Falls (near Kaslo): A short and peaceful trail leads to this stunning fall right on the lakeshore. You’ll hear it before you see it.
-
Cottonwood Falls (Nelson): Tucked in the heart of the city, it’s small but full of character. Bonus: live music sometimes plays nearby at the market.
-
Wilson Creek Falls (near New Denver): Tall, powerful, and surrounded by lush forest — this one gave me goosebumps.
-
Cascade Falls (Christina Lake): Not to be confused with the one in Mission! This one feels like a secret.
Every waterfall I’ve visited around here left me with something — a new perspective, a calm heart, or just a little adventure buzz. If you’re in the Kootenays, you don’t have to go far to find something magical.
